David M. Coleman, Sr., age 60, of Daniels, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Frye Medical Center in Hickory, NC, following a sudden illness.
Born May 22, 1952, in Beckley, he was the son of Dixie McDowell Farmer of Beckley and the late Rev. Fred C. Farmer.
David was an ASE Certified mechanic and had work at many local dealership garages in Beckley and had last worked at Beckley Auto Mall. He loved NASCAR and had a passion for 4-wheeling with his truck. He also served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by brothers, Dennis Coleman and Chester Farmer; and a sister, Betty Smith.
Along with his mother, those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his son David Coleman II and wife Renee of Oak Hill; brothers, Dwight Coleman and wife Carla of Savannah, GA, Steven Farmer and wife Lisa of Fort Worth, TX, Pete Farmer and wife Rita of Church Hill, TN, and Roger Farmer and wife Mary of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Joyce Sweatte of Calhoun, GA, and Nancy Garner and husband Carl of Mabscott; sister-in-law, Vilma Coleman of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Raenah and Makenzie Bennett; also a special friend Deborah Atha-Candler; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of David’s life will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Johnny Alberson officiating with the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 conducting final military rites.
In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated after the services.
Friends may call from 5 till 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Beckley.
