Alma Merle Earehart

Alma Merle Earehart, age 84, of Beckley, passed away in her sleep at Bowers Hospice House of Southern WV on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Born on January 27, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Parker Walters and Dessie Aileen Reynolds, and adopted father Ola Lee Miller.

Alma was a working member of the Beckley Junior Women's Club. She was an active participant and contributor to many projects that improved the Beckley area and benefited many individuals. Among the things she loved the most as a member of this organization were the trips the ladies would make for an overnight at The Greenbrier. Her favorite roommate in all their travels was Joanie Ashworth Crews. Speaking with great discretion as she talked about adventures, no one ever heard the "real story." It was simply a time for ladies who served together to have time to enjoy themselves.

An avid card player, Alma and Howard, spent many weekend evenings playing cards in the homes of close friends. They made lifelong friends during these evenings and the love of playing cards followed Alma throughout her life.

When she was not busy serving in various capacities at the church (serving the Lord was her top priority) you would often find her on the golf course at Black Knight Country Club where she was a member of the infamous 9-holers. To enjoy golf was a breath of fresh air for Alma and she was good. She would hit a long drive on the par 5, 7th hole and be on the green with her second shot. The long fairways and two tremendous hills and valleys didn't seem to bother her at all. She also loved traveling with the WV Automobile Dealers to different meetings and playing the top courses around the state. Oglebay Park was the course that she had trouble conquering and she could be heard saying "How can anything so beautiful be so difficult." Alma won several awards and was a Southern WV Amateur. She was a Cub Scout leader, part of the Heritage Choir and the Bowling Leagues. She was a member of the Art Group where she enjoyed painting. She was Vice President/Co-Owner of Beckley Toyota-Volvo Inc. and Earehart Motors Inc.

As her illness progressed, Alma spent a lot of her time with her sons and her memories. Most of all, she spent time with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Often, when someone called her just to check in, they would ask, "What are you doing?" Her answer was always the same, "Reading my Bible." Now she is experiencing all of the heavenly beauty she read about so often.

She loved reading books and most of all her Bible. She was a devoted wife, mother, Christian, and a friend to many people.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 58 years, Seay Howard Earehart, sister Deloris Malone Bonds and her brother David Michael Miller.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her sons, Seay Howard Earehart Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Michael Wayne Earehart of Beckley, Charles Houston Earehart of Beckley, grandson, Nicholas Ryan Earehart and wife Suzanne B. Earehart of Greenville, SC, great grandchildren Beckett Nash Earehart and Baylor Knox Earehart, whom she loved dearly. Her loving sister Francis Marsh of Spring, TX, her special sister-in-law Juanita Smith Hines, brother-in-law Harold Andrew Earehart and his wife Patricia, along with many loving nieces and nephews of the Earehart and Miller ancestry.

Funeral services will be performed as a Celebration of the Life of Alma M. Earehart at the Family Worship Center, Pinewood Drive, Beckley on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Stacy Dingess officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, WV.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Earehart, Kevin Morris, Charles Smith, Travis Taylor, Michael Hatfield and Troy Hopkins.
