Anita (Dickens) Craddock, age 73, of Shady Spring, went home to be with The Lord Friday, May 29, 2026 following a sudden illness.
Born June 26, 1952 at Pine Knob, she was the daughter of the late Clyde B. Dickens and the late Lula (Dickens) Cochran and Elder Rockford Cochran. She was a 1970 graduate of Marsh Fork High School.
When employed, she worked many years in retail. She was remembered most for the years she spent at Kmart as Electronics Manager before retiring to care for her mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Evans, her sister, Lois (Dickens) Greiner, and special brother-in-law Thomas "Bo" Greiner.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Charles Craddock who shared 39 wonderful years with her. A daughter, Tina Fondale and husband Wes of Beckley; a son, Charles Craddock II of Maple Fork; a daughter, Melinda Carr and husband Darius of Fayetteville; a brother, Delbert Dickens and wife Linda of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and special daughter-in-law, Amber Evans of Shady Spring.
She leaves behind (11) grandchildren and (19) great-grandchildren. Brother and sisters-in-law along with several nieces, nephews and countless friends also survive that include her special lifelong friend, Debbie Webb of Arnett. She also leaves behind her dog and special girl, Calli Lynn.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and loved spending time with each one of them. She was often told she never met a stranger as she enjoyed talking to people. She will always be remembered for her sweet and kind nature. She enjoyed many years of crochet and known to make blankets for her grandbabies. She also enjoyed gardening and being outside sitting on her front porch.
When she was able, she attended Living Waters Baptist Church in Beckley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 2pm at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring, WV with her son-in-law, Wes Fondale officiating. Burial will follow at the Craddock & Maynor Cemetery at Maple Fork. Friends may visit with the family from 12pm – 2pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Craddock II, Aaron Carr, LeBron Carr, Christopher Evans, Jamason Evans and Nate Evans.
