Anthony Leon Hairston

Anthony Leon Hairston, age 57, of Beckley,  WV passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 with his daughter and family by his side.

He was born May  21, 1968 in Welch, WV, to the late Alonzo and Ernestine Murry, and the late James and Nettie Hairston.

He was a star athlete where he went on to lead Northfork High School Blue Demons to a State Championship, where they also won in 1984, he then went on to graduate from Mount View High School in 1985, then went off to serve his country in the US Air Force in 1986. Anthony also worked at a church restaurant in Beckley, WV, and then worked as a stocker at Family Dollar.  He was also a floor manager at Meijers in Columbus, Ohio.

Anthony loved being a DJ, cooking and living his best life. He was a two stepper, because he did not know how to dance "LOL". His favorite color was green; he loved the Duke Blue Devils and the San  Francisco 49ers. He was also a die hard Lakers Fan, and he loved watching Hell's Kitchen on the Food Network, playing his video games while being a snack king "LOL".  Anthony was the life of the party!  He also loved his family so much; he always wanted the best for his children and grandkids, and they made him proud. He always stayed on them because he knew they could do it when he left this  world. He was proud of all of them, and he got right with his Lord and Savior, and was at peace.

Anthony was preceded in death by his mothers, Ernestine and Nettie; his fathers James Sr. and Alonzo; his sister Patricia Millner, his daughter Jamia Hairston  and one brother Stanley Hairston.

Those left to cherish his memory are his  four children; his two daughters, Lakeita (Diz Cannady) Crosier and Gazzmine Jones; two sons, Ty'Youn Whitehead, and Tajiia Hardy; four granddaughters Ti'Yana Steptoe, Aaniyah Whitehead, Khole Wallington and Paisey; Two grandsons, Ty'Youn Powell and Jay'Ceon Crosier; two sisters, Joanne (Ronald) Alston of Warrenton, NC, and Victoria Hairston of North Augusta, Ga.; five brothers, Ronald Hairston, and James Hairston Jr. both of Cleveland, OH, Roger Hairston of Columbus,  OH, Patrick (Belinda) Hairston of Jacksonville, NC, and Darin Hairston  of Tacoma, WA, and a special aunt, Patricia Hairston.

Anthony leaves behind  close friends Turk, Marlon, Charlie, Mikey, Johnny, Fat Boy, Carl, Pernell and Arnold. His favorite girls were Sharon Hairston, Sarah Lewis, Kyra Crosier, and Tara Young.  A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service for Anthony Hairston will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, 1901 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV on Saturday,  June 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
