Barbara Ann (Friend) Jennings, 72, entered eternal rest on November 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Lexington, NC, as the result of long-term illness.
Born on May 20, 1952 in Ashland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Martha (Deaton) Friend. She married her husband, Lawrence Jennings on June 22, 1968 who precedes her in death along with her sister, Juanita Kay Brown.
This profound loss is mourned by her surviving children, Mary (David) Throne, Tammy (Mike) Courtney, and Jesse (Brenda) Jennings, all of Lexington, NC; Stacy (Isaac) Wagner, of Winston-Salem, NC and grandchildren, Ray (Ashley) Widener;Caitlin (Daniel) Throne; Christian (Morgen) Palma; David Lee (Tiffany) Gordon; Matthew (Tori) Widener; Heather (Austin) Malone; Brianna (Zaven) Harrison; Jacob Harrison along with 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Dorothy (Raymond) Ables; Reba (Steve) Thomas; Howard Friend Jr.; Rick (Chris) Friend; Kevin Friend; Carolyn Pratt and Joe Ables; sister-in-law's, Charlotte Wells and Josie Harding; brothers-in-law, Larry Jennings and Curtis Brown, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara worked at Lexington Furniture Industries for many years until she became a homemaker. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. In addition to her family, she loved flowers and puzzles. She was loved by anyone who met her – a common phrase that was often said to describe Barbara was "to know her was to love her."
Her family and friends will honor her memory at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2 PM with Rev. Mark Spence officiating. Burial will follow at the Jennings and Stowers Cemetery at Odd, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
