Benny Ray Harper I, age 71, of Shady Spring, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023 with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born on April 3, 1952, he was the son to the late Benjamin and Marie Harper. He was preceded in death by brothers, James and Michael Harper.

Benny attended Shady Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed hunting, working in his garden, and most of all spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Benny never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.Benny's family was his whole world. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife of 53 wonderful years, Patsy Harper, who he loved with all of his heart. He was a loving father to his children, Benny Ray Harper II (Gloria), Angel Dempsey, and Austin Harper (Kara). He was a fun and loving paw to his grandkids, Zyndal Harper, Tana Farley, Hayley Rice, Dylan Harper, Kandise Gilkerson, and Hannah Dempsey, as well as his 15 great grandchildren.

Benny is also survived by brothers, Danny Harper, Terry Harper, and Jerry Harper, and a sister Karen Collins. Benny was a genuine man of God, who had a heart and love for his family like no other, and he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate the Life of Benny at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1 PM with his son, Pastor Benny Harper II officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Zyndal Harper, Austin Harper, Aiden Harper, Dylan Harper, Kip Neace, Shawn Neace, Travis Farley and Jake Rice.
