Bertha Ann Oliver

Bertha Ann Oliver, age 76, of Ghent, WV, passed away January 29, 2025, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born on March 20,1948, in Corinne, WV, she was the daughter of the late Saunders Norwood Dickerson and Media Alice Little Dickerson.

Bertha was retired from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department, serving in the records department. She also served as a deputy sheriff in Raleigh County for many years. She enjoyed writing, poetry, painting, playing the piano, sewing and quilting. Bertha was a member of Ghent Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Oliver; step daughter, Jamie Corona; siblings, Jack Dickerson, Kathy Hutchens, and Roberta Ayers.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include a step daughter, Leisa Blevins and husband Larry of Beckley; a sister, Linda Roark of White Oak; a brother, Samuel Perry Dickerson  and  wife Libby of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Suzan Dickerson of Odd; a brother-in-law, Bill Ayers of Odd; special cousin and caregiver, Frances Thompson;  Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held to Celebrate the Life of Bertha Oliver on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Ghent Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Pete Pack officiating. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the services at the church.
