Bertha Jean Stone

Bertha Jean Stone, age 95, of Ansted, WV, formerly of Beckley, WV passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Ansted Center in Ansted, WV, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 12, 1930 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Silas O. Wright and Anna Ramey Wright.

Mrs. Stone was a homemaker, and was a member of Cross Point Church in Beckley, WV, where she was a long time member of the choir. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, flowers, and was also willing to help care for friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband Bill Stone; by a brother Andrew Wright; by two sisters Anna Mae Weeks and Mavis Aleshire.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her son, William E. "Eddie" Stone of Beckley, WV; two daughters Elizabeth Green of Beckley, WV, and Virginia C. Surber and husband David of Troy, Missouri. Grandchildren, William E. Stone Jr., Robin Adkins, Heather Green, Jeanna McIntyre, Melissa Surber, and Lori Surber; great grandchildren, Ella McIntyre, Jacob Adkins, Amanda Reid, and Joshua Preston; great-great grandchildren, Knox Reid and Nico Reid. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Mausoleum Committal Service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum #3, Chapel of Faith in Prosperity, WV on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. There will be no visitation. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum.
