Betty Joyce Bolen

Betty Joyce Bolen, age 87, of Coal City, WV passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born on April 12, 1939 in Meade, WV, she was the daughter of the late Henry Coalson and Kate Sexton Coalson Farley.

Mrs. Bolen had worked as a sales clerk for Family Dollar at Sophia, WV and Beckley, WV.

She was a member of Community Baptist Church near Coal City, WV. Mrs. Bolen was a lifelong resident of the Coal City area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lacy Earl Bolen; a grandson Kristoffer Bradley Bolen; by brothers, Carl, Dean, David, Bernard and Ricky Coalson; a sister Geneva McGrady.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her son Lacy E. Bolen and wife Susan of Coal City; a granddaughter Vanessa and fiancé  Chandler of Lester; great grandsons, Aiden, Ian, and Eli; two brothers, Ronnie Coalson of Hopewell, VA, and Gary Coalson and wife Kitty of Chilhowie, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Ernie Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens on Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
