Betty Curtis passed away November 20, 2024, at Bowers Hospice House after a very long illness.

Born October 12, 1938, in Jodie, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph "JC" and Dixie O'Dell.

Betty graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957, and had worked at G. C. Murphy Co., the WV Turnpike Glasshouse, Beckley Newspaper, Raleigh County Board of Education and owned Betty's Ceramics shop with her husband until retirement.  She was a longtime member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church.

Betty was blessed with wonderful friends and a loving family. She loved nature, wildlife, her flowers, the birds, clouds, the trees, sunrises, sunsets, the ocean and trips with her girls.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wade "Buck" Curtis; her father and mother-in-law Carna and Irene Curtis; brothers Ron O'Dell, Ben O'Dell, Bill O'Dell, Mork O'Dell and Gene O''Dell; her sisters JoAnn Wells and Wilma Phipps; her son-in-law Bob Mandeville; sisters-in-law Irene "Marty" McDaniel, Virginia " Ginny" Bennett, Nada O'Dell, Ella Jean O'Dell and Rosemary O'Dell.

She is survived by her daughters Shari Mandeville, Trish Bryant (Harry), and Carol Curtis. Her grandchildren, which referred to her fondly as "Grams",  Matt Warden (Erin), Chris Warden (Laura), Sara Mandeville-Hall (Jason), Brandon Peelish, Travis Mandeville (Brittany), David Bryant, John "PeeWee"  Mandeville (Patty) and Kim Bryant; great-grandchildren Carlie Bryant, Dylan Bryant, Lexi Jones, Kase Warden, MaKenna Mandeville, Kami Warden, Alyssa Warden, Aleah Hall, Wade Mandeville, Gabriel Hall, Hailey Warden and Hunter Hall; brother Gary O'Dell and sisters Linda Allen and Connie Brown.  She is also survived by a very special nephew and nieces Bruce McDaniel, Sandy Shrewsbury and Nancy Thomson and a host of extended family and friends.

Honoring Betty's wishes, a private family gathering will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. Words cannot express our appreciation for their kindness and support during our time of need.
