"May the spirit of Christmas last all year" Beverley would say on Christmas Day. Beverley Jean Redden, 86, was home in Shady Spring for her last Christmas and was called to heaven on December 26th, surrounded by her husband and daughter.
Beverley touched the lives of family and friends alike with her warmth, generosity and strength. Raised in Raleigh, WV beginning July 24th, 1938 she embraced coal camp living with her grandparents, Poppy and Cora Bell Allen, her mother, Bertha Mae Gill and her brother, James Lee Gill.
As a graduate of the 1956 class of Woodrow Wilson High School, she worked as a teller for the Raleigh County National Bank. She loved her job and a high-heeled shoes. In 1972 she dedicated her life to her family staying home to raise her daughter. Countless home cooked meals, holiday decorations, candies, quilts and crafts were made by a loving mother and wife. Gardening and canning were her summer specialties. She attended church at West Raleigh and First Baptist of Shady Spring where she loved serving in the nursery, VBS programs and feeding the Senior Friends. A long illness slowed her service and visits with others but not her spirit. Beverley believed that when the time is right the Lord will make it happen. (Isaiah 60:22)
Beverley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Danny Kessler Redden and her daughter, Shelley D. Redden, of Shady Spring. Her son, Clark Kessler awaited her arrival in heaven. She leaves behind beloved siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and life long friendships.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Shady Spring on Tuesday December 31, 2024 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Brian Harmon officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the church. Beverley will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, WV.
Love gifts in her name may be sent to Hospice of Southern WV.
Special thank you to Pastor Brian Harmon and his wife Anna for lifting her spirit up to Sweet Beulah Land.
