Billy Collins

Billy Joe Collins age 77 of Clear Creek, WV died on Monday April 3, 2017.

He was born on September 26, 1939 at Clear Creek, and was the son of the late Dana Ray Collins and Enola Underwood Collins.

Mr. Collins was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and the NRA.

He was a dedicated father and grandfather, a friend to many in the Raleigh County area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Mary Jo Collins, by three brothers, Jackie, James, and Junior Collins, and the mother of his children Eula Patsy Atha.

Mr. Collins is survived by a daughter, Patty Jones of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, a granddaughter Rachel Fairthorne, a grandson Tyler Fairthorne, and a great grandson, Forrest Fairthorne, all of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two sons, Tim of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Ira of Clear Creek; two brothers. Jerry of Beckley and Johnny of Clear Creek; by seven sisters, Mary Ellen Williams, Nellie Scarbro, Julie Walker, Donna Williams, and Ada Mullins, all of the Beckley area, and Goldie Brado and Mazie Cantley both of Michigan.

Mr. Collins enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved gathering ginseng and mushrooms. His generosity and helpfulness will be greatly missed by many neighbors, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at Workman's Creek Methodist Church at 10 AM on Monday April 10, 2017 with Rev. Jim Bowyer officiating.

Burial will follow at Collins Family Cemetery at Spruce Mountain, WV.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the church.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
