Brenda Joyce Benton

Brenda Joyce Benton, age 72, of Shady Spring, WV passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born on November 16, 1951 in Kathryn, WV, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Ayers and Erma V. Founds Ayers.

Mrs. Benton was a former CNA at Pine Lodge Nursing Home, and lastly was the general manager of Opie's Corner Store in Shady Spring. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by a son Miguel Torres.

She was a member of Cool Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 36 years, Richard D. "Ricky" Benton; her children Louisa Bennett and husband Dennis of Hinton, and Luis Torres and wife Gloria of Bluefield, WV. Three grandchildren, Brittany England, Keith Surbaugh and Brandon Surbaugh; three great grandchildren Zayden Holstein, Allison England, and Scotty Torres.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 1 PM with Rev. Rick Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the  funeral home.

Pallbearers  will be family and friends.
