Cecil "Chick" C. Hughes Jr., age 83 of Daniels, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14th, 2024.
Born on July 17, 1940 in Sophia, He was the son of the late Cecil Hughes Sr. and Helen Hughes.
Chick was retired from Midway Scrap and Recycling and enjoyed working on his antique cars. He was an avid dirt track racing fan and driver throughout the years. He enjoyed watching both of his sons' race and accompanying them to many racing events. In his free time, Chick enjoyed fishing, spending his winters in Florida, and picking on anyone that met his path. He could always bring a smile on your face and tell you a good joke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nigel Hughes, and his brother Robert "Bobby" Hughes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons; Wayne Hughes of Flat Top and Tate Hughes and wife Denise, of Beaver. His Grandchildren; Jesslyn Darby, Kathryn Hughes, Kennedy McCormick, and Sydney Hughes. And a great-grand child Van Darby. His Brother James "Jimmy" Hughes and wife Jeanette Hughes. As well as his long-term girlfriend, Terri Callahan, whom he enjoyed spending his later years with. In addition to many loving cousins and friends.
The family extends special thanks to everyone for your thought, prayers, and kind words.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the Beaver Cemetery in Beaver. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lilly, Harold Lilly, Bill Meadows, Mason McCormick, Brian May, and Brent Jarrell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House- 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV or to Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley WV, 25801.
