Charles "Chuck" Ray Rutherford, age 70, of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Born in Beckley, West Virginia, Chuck lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

Chuck never met a stranger—his personality was contagious, and his warmth drew people in. He loved people, and people loved Chuck. Known for his strong work ethic, Chuck built a successful career in sales and later became a thriving business owner. An entrepreneur at heart, he embraced challenges and opportunities with passion and determination.

Beyond his professional achievements, Chuck cherished traveling with his beloved wife, Marcella ("Marcey") Rutherford. Together, they explored countless destinations, creating memories that will last forever. But more than working or traveling, Chuck loved his family, his faith, and his country.

Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Marcella Rutherford, and his loving mother, Barbara Leeber. He leaves behind his daughter Kim Phillips and her husband Jim, his brother David Rutherford and wife Sandy, granddaughter Alexis Stewart and her husband Heath, and great grandchildren Joseph Stewart and Bethany Stewart. He is also remembered by his nephews David Bays, Cody Rutherford, Ryan Rutherford, and niece Becky Rutherford.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Rutherford, sister Barbara Lewis, and brother Johnny Rutherford.

Chuck's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate the Life of Charles Rutherford on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, WV at 2 PM with his son-in-law Pastor Jim Phillips officiating. A private burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
