Charley Ray "Poppy" Redden age 76 of Raleigh, WV passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston, WV.
Born on May 30, 1948, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Burgess and Kathleen Lewis Redden.
Mr. Redden was a former coal miner, and a concrete construction employee for Hoover Construction in Beaver, WV.
He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church at Daniels and enjoyed fishing and riding his 4-Wheeler. Most of all, he loved being a " Poppy" to his grandchildren and to his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Redden was preceded in death by two sons, Joshua Ray Redden and Charles Ray Redden; by a brother Roger Dale Redden.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Brenda Pack Redden; his children, Brenda Sue Redden Waddell and husband Dean of Raleigh, and Michael Dean Redden of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Deanna Ellen Waddell and companion Isaac Oglesby of Beckley, and Nathan Wayne Waddell of Raleigh; a great granddaughter Nairobi Oglesby of Beckley.
Two brothers, Chester Redden and wife Ann of Beckley, and Clarence Redden of Beckley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Larry Cochran and Minister Dean Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
