Charlotte Wallace Carter, age 86, of Beckley, WV, went to dance with abandon on the streets of heaven on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Villages of Greystone in Beaver, WV after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born on October 28, 1937 in Prudence, WV, she was the daughter of Claude Ray Allen and Florence Lee Allen.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Robert L. Carter.
She is survived by her children, Mark and wife, Amy, of Morgantown, WV and Jeff and wife, Deanna, of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Jordan Carter and Lauren Carter; and many nephews and nieces.
Following graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School, Mrs. Carter worked for C&P Telephone Company as a call center supervisor and Sears as an appliance salesperson.
Besides being a devoted wife and loving mother, Mrs. Carter enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. In addition to her tremendous culinary talents, she loved traveling, shopping and family gatherings.
She will especially be remembered for her infectious laughter and fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met. She was a sharer of long conversations and better advice, often administering "healthy" doses from her "Queen's Chair" on the covered porch of the family house.
Above all, Charlotte's life was defined by sharing joy in Christ. She was a long-time member of Beckley Regular Baptist Church (BRBC).
A service will be held for family and close friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 2 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 1:30 PM. Pastor Ken Smith of BRBC will officiate the service. A private entombment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Faith Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date with details to be determined.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Joyce Mullins, a special care giver, Dr. Saad Zafar of Farhat Medical Clinic, the wonderful staff at the Villages of Greystone, especially Chauntelle, Bobbi, Amy, Lindsay, Ty, Emily, Cindy, Sandra, Amanda, Stacie and Susan, and to the nurses, physician and staff at Hospice of Southern WV for the love, care and support they provided Mrs. Carter and her family.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Beckley Regular Baptist Church, 707 Johnstown Road, Beckley, WV 25801.
