Chester "Pops" Cline Farley, Sr.

Chester Cline Farley, Sr. (Pops), age 73, of Cool Ridge, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in the comfort of his self-built home surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness.

Born on January 15, 1952 in Cool Ridge, he was the son of the late Ora Cletis Farley and Louisa Maude Farley. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1969.

Pops was a retired chief electrician for the coal mines with 40 years of service and was a member of the UMWA.  He was a devoted member of Little Bethel Church and White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. Pops was also an enthusiastic beekeeper, had a lifelong love of aircraft, and was a proud graduate of Cornbread College, presented with a diploma by his family. He was an excellent farmer and handyman to anyone that needed help.

In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Sue Farley (2020) and his brothers Lemuel Farley and Alvin McRay Farley.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Brenda Gail Bowles (John Sova) of Lexington, NC, Chester C. Farley, Jr. (Carson) of Durham, NC, and Kimberly Sue Bailey (David) of Beckley, WV.  His beloved grandchildren, Erica Nickels (AJ), Trevor Smith, Keira Bailey, Kyndra Bailey, Bryson Bowles, Weston Bowles, and Kelsi Bailey.  Brothers, Leslie Farley of Cool Ridge and Kenny Farley and wife Gale of Cool Ridge.  Five sisters, Melva Cales and husband Eddie of Cool Ridge, Nadine Bragg of Cool Ridge, Pauline Lester of Cool Ridge, Thelma Simon and husband Ray of China Grove, NC, and Linda Nixon and husband Eli of Cool Ridge.  Also left to cherish his memory are many nieces and nephews, including Gary Wills and wife Judy of Cool Ridge, who was raised like a brother and his four-legged best friend, Lightning T.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the life of Chester C. Farley, Sr. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. David Nichols officiating.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
