Clarence Leon Steele, age 78, of Beaver, WV, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at his home.
Born on April 27, 1946 in Welch, he was the son of the late Hayes James Steele and Myrtle Gentry Steele.
Mr. Steele was a retired welder for the Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. He was US Navy Veteran, serving in the Vietnam Conflict on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. Mr. Steele was a member of American Legion Post #32, where he served as a funeral honor guard for many years. He was a member of the Beckley Masonic Lodge #95, A.F.&A.M., and a member of the Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Steele enjoyed fishing, camping, watching football, playing cards, and gardening. He was a people person, and loved being around others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Leon Steele, and eight siblings.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Dreama Greathead Steele; Renee Surratt and husband Mark of Mooresville, NC; four grandchildren, Aaron Barnes and husband Nate, Hannah Marshall and husband Case, Molly Zottsman and husband Matthew, and Seth Surratt; great grandchildren, Kaydence Barnes and Penelope Barnes, all of North Carolina. Two sisters, Linda Day of Beckley, and Betty Felts and husband Jimmy of Cincinnati, OH. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV at noon on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 with Pastor Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Beckley Masonic Lodge #95 A.F.&A.M. will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Shriner's Hospital at lovetotherescue.org in memory of Mr. Steele.
