Daniel Lee Sweeney

Daniel Lee Sweeney, age 73, of Sweeneysburg, WV passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Hilltop Center at Hilltop, WV.

Born on July 26, 1950 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Phillip Harold Sweeney Jr. and Myrtle Frances Brugh Sweeney.

Mr. Sweeney grew up in Sweeneysburg, and had made his home in Charlotte, NC for many years, where he worked as a truck driver.

He was a born again Christian, and enjoyed bowling in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion of over 30 years, Dora Cook; infant sister Judy Sweeney; a son Johnny Lee Sweeney.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include a son Jimmy Sweeney; daughter Jeannie Sheppard of Lewisburg; his late companion Dora Cook's children,  Linda Miszuk and husband Damian of Graham, NC, and Diane Little and husband John of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Donald Sweeney of Princeton, and Michael Sweeney and wife Ann of Sweeneysburg; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 2 PM.  Burial will follow at the Godbey and Sweeney Cemetery at Sweeneysburg, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
