Born on July 8, 1946 in Maplewood, WV she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Shuck and Frances Smith Shuck.

Darla attended High School and graduated in Maryland, where she worked and modeled briefly. Darla retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Beckley, WV, where she was employed as a social worker for more than  twenty years.  She received the recognition award for being the Woman of the Year ( twice) at the hospital. Darla enjoyed being educated and had attended Beckley College for over 20 years, and  referred  to herself as being a "career student". She had attained numerous Associate Degrees, including L.P.N. and Social Work. Darla  also had her own designated parking space at the college! Her many hobbies included upholstering, ceramics, painting, and Bible trivia.

Darla was a devout Christian for over 40 years, and was leader of the Women's  Prayer Group and Bible Study at her church. She loved working and  singing with  the youth. Darla also began singing with her two sisters at the age of three, and was blessed with a beautiful voice.

Her entire life was based upon serving the Lord.

In addition to her parents, Darla was preceded in death by her husband David Fritz of Daniels; by one sister Sheila Campbell, and brother-in-law Bernard Campbell; a nephew Bernard "Rocky" Campbell.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter Sabrina Williams and husband Randy of Beckley; beloved grandson Brian Thomas of Beckley; beloved sister Linda Spradlin of Maryland; niece Teri Spradlin of Maryland; nephews include Mike Spradlin, Jeff Spradlin, and Greg  Spradlin, all of Maryland; great nephews Wilber Dahn, Wesley Dahn, and Chandler Dahn, all of Maryland.
