With heavy hearts and deep love, we sadly announce the passing of Darrold Keith Wickline, 91, of Beckley, WV.
He was born February 16, 1934 to George and Ellen Mann Wickline, at Keenan, Monroe County, WV and was the youngest of 6 children. He graduated from Union High School in 1953. He then moved to Beckley and started working at Beckley Tire and Rubber Company where he met the love of his life Mary Withrow. They married in 1954 and celebrated their 71 year anniversary last May.
He started working with his father-in-law at Withrow's Auto Service in 1955 and in 1980 he became owner and operator, working in the business the rest of his life. He was an avid bowler, archer, gardener, artist, baseball coach, hunter, golfer and his real love was fly fishing. He fully enjoyed his riding lawn mower, his camp and was able to grow anything in his garden. Darrold was Baptist and a member of Beckley Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ellen Mann Wickline, his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Mary Withrow, his sister Jean (Grady) Glover, his brothers Everett (Orleana), Ernest (Hatty), Herndon and Donald, a special niece and nephew, Bonnie Tredway and Joel Wickline, brother-in-law Wayne Farley, special neighbors Woodrow and Thelma Bales and special fly-fishing friend Johnny Honaker.
Left behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary, his children Linda (Walt) Harper, Venecia (Mike) Canterberry, Emily (Eddie) Hanft, and his "favorite" son, Darrold K "Rocky" Wickline II. His joy was his grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) White, Jon White, Greg White and companion Randi, Mallory (Justin) Cullop, Chase Canterberry, Haley (David) Edwards, Jennifer (Paul) Cerruto and Rick (Stephanie) Mosel. Bonus grandchildren, Mike, Matthew, Troy Canterberry, Angie Harper Adkins and Cristy Harper (deceased). His extra sunshine, his great grandchildren, Sofi and Zoe White, Madison (Jared) Harper, Jay, Penny, Lindsey Edwards and Jackson "Wickline" Cullop, Owen and Jeremy Cerruto, Lucas and Abby Mosel, Dylan and Destiny Harper Edwards. Many loving nieces and nephews, three sisters-in-law, Margie and Jane Wickline and Frances Farley. Darrold had many cherished friends. His fly-fishing buddies, Danny, Tommy, Dean and so many others.
A special thank you to his right hand men at Withrow's Auto Service, Scott and Greg, our mom's caregivers, Mary and Linda, who also took such special care of dad and Trina McDaniels who has been there for 20+ years to help Thank you to Kayla, Hannah and Kelly from Centerwell, who brought sunshine to dad's days and Erica Shrewsbury, his caring doctor. A special thank you to Dr. Chandler Long at Duke University Hospital and Dr. Jacob DePolo, friend and consult and also Dr. John Tabit. Last but not least, his precious Angel, his cat that made his days brighter.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 12:45 PM at the Moose Club, 410 New River Drive, Beckley, WV with Kenny Maiola officiating. Friends are welcome from 12 PM until 3 PM for light refreshments and fellowship.
