David Lee Keith, Sr.

David Lee Keith Sr., age 77, of Stanaford, WV passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born on October 20, 1946 in New Rival, WV, (Wyoming County), he was the son of the late Ross Keith and Goldie Foster Keith.

Mr. Keith was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and had attended the Lester Church of God.

He was an avid wood worker, loved collecting coal mining items, gardening and going to yard sales. He adored his grandchildren, and loved spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shelby Keith, and a brother Jim Keith.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving companion of over 11 years, Penney Young of Stanaford; three children, David Lee Keith Jr. and wife Lisa of Beckley, Alice Smith and husband Johnny of Aberdeen, NC, and Pamela Armstrong of Aberdeen, NC; a step son Lawrence Richards of Beckley. A sister, Rosemary Whittaker of Sophia; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Halewski and fiancé Joshua Javens of Aberdeen, NC, Johnny Smith "Johnboy" Smith and wife Alicia of Crab Orchard, Brandon Keith and wife Kristen of Beckley, Walter Keith and wife Morgan of Coal City, Caleb Bailes and wife Bailee of Beckley, Hannah Richards of Huntington, and Madison Bailes of Glen Daniel, Kinsley Richards of Madison, GA;  many great grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service will be held to Celebrate the Life of David Lee Keith Sr. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 6 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV with Rev. Dale Birchfield officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
