Dayton Douglas Deal, age 51, of Bradley, WV passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on November 4, 2024 following a long battle with illness and an incurable heart disease.
Born on June 20, 1973 in Beckley, WV he was the son of the late Ralph David Deal, Sr. and Carolyn Lilly Gunter and her husband, Daniel of Maple Fork.
"Doug" as he was known by his friends and family, was a 1991 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and worked most of his adult life as a truck driver, owning and operating his own company, DABL Trucking. Doug enjoyed hunting, riding his ATV and cooking something good on the smoker.
Doug was a thoughtful son, loving husband, proud and devoted father and a doting grandfather. He had a friend, Heath Halstead, that he always looked forward to working in the hayfields of Ohio with. He will long be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make everyone laugh. He had an infectious smile that will be missed by all who knew him.
Other than his father, Ralph David Deal, Sr., Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dayton and Helen Lilly of Maple Fork.
Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife of almost 24 years, Amy Bowyer Deal, three children, Cody Deal and his wife Alison, Bethany Deal and Lane Deal, both at home; his mother, Carolyn Gunter and his stepfather, Daniel Gunter of Maple Fork; his first grandchild, Adalyn Elizabeth Deal; his older brother, Ralph Deal, Jr. and his wife, Valerie of Chesepeake, VA; mother in law, Tammy Bowyer of Maple Fork, and numerous other family and friends survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at New Prospect Baptist Church, where Doug attended, with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Private online condolences and other expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family via our guestbook. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV.
