Deborah Ann Roark

Deborah Ann Roark, age 70, of  Coal City, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

Born on August 29, 1955  in Montgomery, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Edgar Payne and Goldie Inez Burford Payne.

Mrs. Roark was a retired Director of Nursing at Broadmore Extended Care Facility in Bristol, Tennessee.

She attended Coal City Freewill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed Bible Study. Mrs. Roark loved flower gardening, and mowing her lawn. She also enjoyed  fishing in her pond.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Underwood and Carol Johnson, and by a brother Bill Payne, "her fishing buddy".

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 11 years, Gary Roark; a step son Stephen Roark and his wife Christy of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; a step grandson Jarrett Bailey of Coal City; a step granddaughter, Jordan Bennett of Georgia; three sisters, Nancy  Boone of  Ohio, Karen Sturgill and husband James of Midway, and Susan Bolen and husband Lacy of Coal City; two brothers, David Payne and wife Donna of Kincaid, and Robert Payne and wife Tena of Page; a brother-in-law Stephen Roark and wife Kyline of Coal City, and a brother-in-law  Berlin Sheets and wife Brenda of Coal City. Many friends ( who know who they are), along with many nieces and nephews  also survive.

According to Mrs. Roark's personal wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral services.

A Celebration Life Service will be held at a later date.
