Donald "Pat" Patrick Hunter, 91, passed away peacefully in his home in White Oak, WV on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 16, 1933 in Princewick, WV, he was the son of the late Edward and Lena Hunter. He married the love of his life, Jean Alice Clemson on November 3, 1953 in Clifton Forge, VA.

Don proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the US Army's 11th Airborne Division stationed at Fort Campbell, KY during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he bought 2 coal trucks and started hauling coal. Shortly after his trucking days, he founded D&T Construction Company with Tommy Treadway.

Don loved music and was an accomplished musician. He played with several local bands and was a member of the Slim Mims TV Show out of Florence, SC. After his salvation, he played bass guitar with the Fords, a local gospel musical group. Don played bass guitar for many years in Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church in Beaver, WV, where he also served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. In his later years, Don was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in White Oak, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lena Hunter; brothers, Harold, Thomas and Edward Jr. and sisters, Francis Yancey and Catherine Carson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 71 years, Jean Alice Hunter; his children and grandchildren, George (Carolyn) Hunter, Donnie Hunter, Michelle (Chris) Handy, Patrick (Melissa) Hunter, Justin (Telee) Hunter, Corey (Monica) Handy , Audrey (Robert) Williams, Cody Hunter,  Madison (Jordon) Peters, Mark Hunter, Katie (Jon) Hardy and many great granddaughters and great grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Larry Cochran officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
