Donald Ray Lilly, age 89, of Beaver, WV passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.

Born on February 8, 1934 in Blue Jay, he was the son of the late Carl P. Lilly and Claudia Martin Lilly.

Mr. Lilly was a former concrete worker, and retired as a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines.

He was a member of the UMWA and attended Beaver Baptist Church. He enjoyed old cars, and owned a 1919 Model -T, which was named the Rusty Nail.   Mr. Lilly was a member of the Shade Tree Car Club, and enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lilly was preceded in death by his wife  Pansy Alene Long Lilly; step mother June Lilly; by brothers Freddie Lilly and Carl Lilly; sisters Lola Marie Lilly, Louise Lilly, and Mary Frances Lilly.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Rick Lilly and wife Teresa of Beaver, and Patricia "Trisha" Carpenter and husband Richard of Daniels. A brother, James Lilly of Hickory, NC; two sisters Evelyn Worrell of Daniels, and Margaret Phillips of Beaver. Three grandchildren, Tanya West and husband John, Kendra Cogar and husband Patrick, and Rickie Lilly of Cool Ridge; great grandchildren, Dakota Cogar, Emma Cogar, Shelby West, and Gwen West. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 3 PM with Pastor Larry Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at the Lilly's Family Cemetery at Beaver, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Rickie Lilly, Dakota Cogar, Patrick Cogar, Keri Link, David Link, and David French.
