Donnie Russell Bragg

Donnie Russell Bragg, age 84 of Bragg, WV, passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Born on January 9, 1942 in Bragg, WV, he was the son of the late Bill Bragg and Florence Radford Bragg.

Russell, as he was known by family and friends, was a retired security guard at Crossroads Mall.  He was a member of Beckley Praise Church, and was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Russell enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and going to McDonald's restaurant in Beaver, WV.

In addition to his  parents, Russell was preceded in death by his wife Judy Bragg; brothers, Leroy and Oscar Bragg; sisters Mary Jane Bragg, Lillie Mae Bragg, and Pauline "Pud" Bragg; a granddaughter Danni Lynn Plumley.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Karen Plumley and husband Dennis of Bragg; grandchildren, Luke Plumley and wife Katie of Midway, and Elijah Plumley and fiancé Brooke Bennett of Pluto;  a great granddaughter Holli Lynn Plumley; step great granddaughter, Jocelyn Summers; step children, Scott Meadows and Sonja Alderman. A brother Jimmy Ray Bragg  and wife Carol of Bragg; a sister-in-law Debbie Vest husband Kenny of Pluto Road; several nieces and nephews; the mother of his daughter and his former wife, Linda Surratt and husband Gary "Honey" of Daniels. He also leaves behind a special friend William "Billy" Boggs,  and his "McDonald's Family".

A visitation will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, with a funeral service to begin at 4:00 PM.  Pastor Paul Chapman will officiate. According to Russell's personal wishes, cremation will follow.
