Dorothy Sue Allen (Carol Sue) 81, of Lester, West Virginia, a woman of strength, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026, where she was joyfully welcomed into Heaven and reunited with her father and mother, George and Zelma Burns, and her beloved sister, Zelta Belcher.
Born on June 21, 1944, in Iaeger, West Virginia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late George Burns and Zelma Burns. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Zelta Belcher, and by Roy Donell, her devoted companion.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Lester, West Virginia, where she was well known in the community. Alongside her father and mother, she was the owner and operator of the B&G Shell Service Station, where her strong work ethic and determination were evident to all who knew her. She was never afraid of hard work and carried herself with strength and independence.
She was a faithful member of the Lester Church, where her belief in God was not only professed but lived daily through her love, strength, and devotion to her family.
Above all else, Dorothy's life was her children. They were her heart and her purpose. She would go without so that they would never have to. Her sacrifices were quiet, constant, and rooted in unconditional love. She was a proud and devoted mother to her son, George Walter "Robbie" Rose and wife Sue; Serina Hamb and husband Ross; and her baby girl, Regina "Gina" Harvey and husband Keatts. She was their protector, their encourager, and their safe place.
She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Kristina Rose and husband Thomas Gunn; Jonathan Rose; Natalie Baggett and husband Jonathan; Stephanie Hamb; Christopher Hamb; Caleb Hamb; Zachary Harvey and wife Katlyn. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy: Drake Gunn, Ian Gunn, Kyrie Gunn, Jeremiah Alderman, Conner Alderman, Trinity Baggett, Arabella Baggett, Ember Baggett, Constance Baggett, Jasmynn Harvey, Josalynn Harvey, Declann Harvey, and Gavinn Harvey. Dorothy is also survived by her loving sisters, Georgie Martin and husband Robert Martin, and Kathy Horton and husband Mike Horton, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Dorothy's legacy is one of resilience, sacrifice, devotion, and steadfast faith. Though her family's hearts are broken, they rejoice in the comfort of knowing she is now whole, healed, and at peace.
She was the strongest woman we have ever known.
Dorothy Sue Allen will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
