Obituary

Eleanor Eddy Stover Justice, age 96, currently of Hixson, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Bailey Manor in Hixson, TN, who lovingly cared for her.

Born on December 12, 1929, at Cantwell, WV, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Eddy and Dimpsie Cunningham Eddy who resided in Lester, WV.

Mrs. Justice was a l947 graduate of Trap Hill High School, a 1950 graduate of Concord College with a BS degree and a teaching certificate in Business Education and Social Studies, and a MS degree in Vocational Education. She started her teaching career in 1949 in Raleigh County at a one-room school, Dillon Creek Elementary on Sandlick, moving on to Pettus Elementary, Dorothy Elementary, Clear Fork High School, and finally returning to her home high school in the fall of 1955 and remained there until the high school moved to what is now Liberty High School in 1977, retiring from teaching in 1989. During the time she taught at the high school level, she was active in working with the FBLA, Trap Hill/Liberty Scholarship Committee (which she continued after retirement), and many other activities with her students. She was also a member of the NEA, WVEA, CTA, and the AFT. One of her greatest feelings of accomplishment during her teaching career was having a student who had been in her business classes at Trap Hill come back as a practice teacher from Concord College, then having her as a fellow teacher at Trap Hill and Liberty High Schools; it also gave her great joy to see former students in business positions all over Raleigh County–and beyond!

She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Fellowship Class, serving as secretary and song leader for several years as well as president or vice-president. She was also a member of the choir (her favorite thing!), served on the Music Committee, Deaconess Board, Keenager Committee, Decorating Committee, and many other capacities. She was a member of Circle No. 1 where she served as treasurer and acted as secretary of the General Circle.

In addition to her parents, Mrs Justice was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Eugene Stover of Surveyor, WV in 1979; and a son Greg Stover in 2019. After many years of widowhood and living in Lester for 48 years, Eleanor married Russell Justice in 2004 moving into Beckley.

Those left to cherish her memory, include her daughter, Debby (husband, Bob) of Hixson, TN, sons Rodney Stover (wife, Rachel) of Saxon, and Jeff Stover of Hixson, TN. Also, four step-children: Gary Justice, Greg Justice, Debbie Stout, and Donna Conley. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
