Eric Burton Stokes

Eric Burton Stokes was born on February 20, 1973, in Southfield, MI to parents Richard A. and Donna Burton Stokes (Donkerbrook).

He departed this world on July 30 2024 at age 51.

He is succeeded by his parents and his companion of 23 years, Danielle Tyree. They lived in Beckley, WV. for about 10 years.

He attended school in the Redford Union District as had his mother before him. During junior high, he transferred to Howe Military School in Howe, Indiana, from which he graduated in the Class of 1991. As a young boy, he played sports and games, frequently with his first and best friend, Mathew Keenan, but he turned increasingly to words and stories and jokes. Music became one of Eric's greatest joys. He took piano lessons and, in junior high, saxophone lessons. As an adult, his creativity turned to electronic music and writing songs. His intellectual brilliance and deep sense of humor were fundamental parts of his life, as friends on Facebook will attest (and often groan).

He had many challenges in his life and his life was not easy. He was a 'cat person' (as friends on Facebook know very well).

He will be greatly missed.
