Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” 2 Timothy 4:7 KJV

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 29, 2026, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eunice Acord Gunnoe, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven.

Born on September 24, 1933, in Bolt, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stollie Dickens Acord. Eunice dedicated her life to loving her family as a homemaker, and she nurtured her faith as a devoted member of the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church. Her church held a very special place in her heart, and she loved her church family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kermit Gunnoe; her sisters, Laura Acord and Janice Acord Gunnoe; and her brothers, Ronald Acord and Bill Acord.

Eunice’s legacy lives on through those who survive her. Her daughter, Darlene Wright and her husband, Jackie, of Bolt, WV; and her son, Danny Gunnoe and his wife, Diana, of Rock Stream, NY. Her memory will be forever cherished by her four grandchildren: Melissa Prichard and her husband, Caleb, of Bolt; Adam Wright and his wife, Meagan, of Bolt; Tammy Salvatore and her husband, Lee, of Dundee, NY; and Shawn Gunnoe of Hudson, NC. She was the proud great-grandmother of three great-granddaughters: Karsey Prichard Sloan and her husband, Ian; Natalee Prichard, and Mylee Prichard; and six great-grandsons: Colton and Cason Wright; Cody, Shane, and Logan Salvatore; and Ethan Gunnoe. She is also survived by her two sisters: Connie Samples and her husband, Kenny; and Drema Hurst Riley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dean Adams officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley. Friends and family are welcome to gather for a time of visitation from 12 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Eunice's family will honor her memory by serving as her pallbearers.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Raleigh General Hospital and Hospice of Southern WV. You treated her with kindness, dignity and love. May God bless each and everyone of you that were involved in her care.
