Evangelist Sandra Gaye Taylor

Evangelist Sandra Gaye Taylor, age 81, of Clear Creek, WV went home to be  with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on  November 13, 1942 in Beckley,  she was the daughter of the late Jim Smith and Henrietta Godbey Young, and was the step daughter of the late Eugene Young.

Sandra was a caregiver for different family members over the years, and  was a minister of the word of God at Pettry Bottom and multiple nursing homes for many years.

Sandra loved quilting, Bible Study, and baby sitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband David Taylor; by siblings, Jerry Smith, Larry Young, Forest Burdette, and Gayle Burke; a grandson Cheney Peaytt.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Rev. David Taylor and his wife Rev. Kathy Taylor of Clear Creek, James "Jimmie" Taylor  of Fairdale, Dreama Taylor (Rodger Long) of Crab Orchard, Cynthia Taylor of Clear Creek, and Kevin Taylor and his wife Karen of Clear Creek. Siblings, Karen Peacock and husband Augie of Jessup, Maryland, Patricia Stonebanks of Maryland, and Blaine Young and wife Teri of Arizona and daughter in law, Lycrettia Taylor of Holly Hills, WV. 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends also survive.

The family extends special thanks to Courtney Epling P.A., Dr. Ralph Simms, Centerwell Home Health, especially Lydia and Savannah, Hospice of Southern WV., her great granddaughter Emily Martin for time and care, Lance Scarbrough for all of his help, Sandra's daughters Dreama and Cindy,  her daughter-in-law Rev. Kathy Taylor,  for all the care given to Sandra during her illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewing Creek Church at Clear Creek, WV on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11AM with Pastor Loretta Taylor and Rev. Becky Maynor officiating, along with her son Rev. David Taylor speaking.  Burial will follow at the Taylor Cemetery at Clear Creek, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the church.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
