Everett Lester (Tuffy) Roark, age 76, of Mabscott, WV died Saturday, February 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hazel Greer Roark; brothers Frankie, Dennis, and Joe Roark; sisters Linda St. John and Nancy Sears.
Everett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa Martin Roark; children, Danny (Virginia) Roark and Renae Roark; grandchildren, Danielle (Nathan) Cook, Autumn Roark, and Daniel Everett Roark; great grandchildren, Fallon and Rowan Cook; brother Johnny Roark; sisters Carol (Ronnie) Agee, Rebecca Lytton and Diana (Gary) Lawson. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Everett was the third child of the family of ten children. He grew up in Fireco, WV, and graduated from Stoco High School in Coal City, WV in 1967. While he was still in high school, he volunteered to go into the United States Air Force. He took his basic training in Amarillo, TX. Due to medical reasons his time in the military was cut short. After receiving an honorable discharge, he came home and began work in the coal mines. He started working for Westmoreland Coal Company in Winding Gulf, WV in1969. He had worked as an underground mining mechanic and electrician for many years, making lots of friends at all the different companies and mines throughout the years he had worked.
Everett was a gentleman and friend to everyone. He had never met a stranger, striking up a conversation anytime and anywhere with anyone. He loved laughter and liked making jokes or kidding. He always said "laughter is good medicine".
Everett was a strong and hard worker; he could be heard whistling as he worked. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles. His grandchildren were the joy of his heart. He is loved so much and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Farnsworth officiating. Music will be provided by Jim and Tina Farnsworth, Tad Damron and Kristi Shrewsberry of Restore the Broken gospel group. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Cook, Tim Stover, David Martin, Tad Damron, Shane Roark, Joey Roark, Danny Roark, and Daniel E. Roark.
The family wishes to give special thanks and love to Bowers Hospice House, Dr. Pittsenbarger, nurses and CNA's.
