On Saturday, October 18, 2025, God called our father, Frank Daniel Forsythe, Sr., home after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's at 83 years young.
Frank was born on April 8, 1942, in Washington, D.C. to Carlton and Addie Forsythe, the third of five boys.
After graduating from Suitland High School, Frank joined the Navy and spent four years being a proud sailor. Frank was so proud of his service, especially being on the USS Saratoga. Frank returned to the Washington D.C. area and met a beautiful young lady named Evelyn from West Virginia at People's Drug store soda fountain counter in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. Just three months later they were married on October 31, 1965, at Carmady Hills Baptist Church in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.
Married for 51 years, Frank and Evelyn had three children, Kandy, Bonnie and Frankie in Gambrills, Maryland.
Frank had a wonderful career as a pressman. He first started out printing Time magazine then accepted a federal government position printing US currency at the Bureau of Engraving in Washington, D.C. where he spent 30 years and retired as a foreman. Something he was so proud of! Frank, not being one to sit still, worked at Kroger in Beaver, West Virginia for 8 years in the produce section. Everyone absolutely loved him there.
Frank was an avid hunter and actually enjoyed his yard work, always keeping it immaculate! Frank loved dancing with Evelyn, his dog Sugar, and even when winning bingo at Chick-fil-A he would dance down the aisle to get his prize. He was very active in his church, First Baptist Church of Shady Spring. Where he served as a deacon and was proud of painting the entire church himself! He was a man of faith and a true servant of God. Frank's humor was absolutely loved by everyone and will put a smile on everyone's face when he is remembered.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, his parents Carlton and Addie and his brothers Walter, Carl and Richard.
His surviving family members are numerous but mainly include daughters Kandy L. Forsythe; Bonnie D. Quinones (Ivan) and a son Frank D. Forsythe, Jr. (Amy). Grandchildren Stephen E. Miller IV (Haley); Nicolas V. Quinones (Deane); Austin S. Quinones (Erika); Addison G. Quinones; Frank D. Forsythe, III, Anthony C. Forsythe; Danielle G. Forsythe, Gabrielle C. Forsythe; Jossalyn A. Forsythe. Great-Grandchildren Stephen E. Miller V; Finlee M. Forsythe; Roman S. Quinones and a brother Samuel W. Forsythe.
Funeral services will be held at the Shady Spring First Baptist Church, Shady Spring, WV on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 1 PM with Pastor Bryan Knight and Pastor Brian Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until service time at the church on Thursday.
