George Tex Bailey

George Tex Bailey, age 78, of Clear Creek, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 8, 1945 in Clear Creek, he was the son of the late Ellis Bailey and Marie Dunbar  Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was a retired coal miner, and was a former glass factory worker. He was a member of Ewing Creek Church, and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed working on cars, and "tinkering" on small engines. Mr. Bailey  loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Cordie K. Harris, Betty Williams, and Beulah Kay Bilbrey.

Those survivors  left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Helen Coleman Bailey; his  children, Greg  Bailey and wife Laura of Shady Spring, Lora Shepperd and  husband Billy of Pax, and Mark Bailey of Shady Spring. Six grandchildren, Jill Bailey, MaKayla Bailey, Zoe Bailey, Cheyenne Bailey Jacqulyn Barnetta , and Brandon Gross; a brother Teal Bailey and wife Kitty of Clear Creek; a sister Georgia Neal of Clear Creek. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewing Creek Church, Clear Creek, WV on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 2 PM with Kerry Maynor and Rev. Becky Maynor officiating. Burial will follow at the Dunbar Cemetery at McDowell Hollow near Clear Creek. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Sunday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
