George G. Ellison, age 83 of Mt. Hope, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2023 in a Charleston hospital following a cardiac event.
Born March 15, 1940 in Mount Hope, WV, he was the son of the late James and Chessie Hudson Ellison.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margie and his brothers, Lee, Lloyd, David, Jerry, Mack, Junior and Eugene and sisters, Mary Euline and Jenny.
He is survived by his sisters, Ruby (Dave) Riley, Barbara Davis (late husband, Bill) and a bonus daughter, Holly Goodson, who he raised as his own; many nieces and nephews, bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren, that adored him, along with their grandmother, Teri Cornell, his long-time companion and many other family, church family, co-workers and friends too many to mention, who will miss him.
Affectionately known as the "Dr. Pepper Man", George was employed with the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for over 40 years. George was a hard worker and loved to meet and mingle with people so he returned to the work force, securing a job at the Crossroads Mall in the janitorial department, where he was employed until his heart attack on December 12, 2023.
A memorial service to celebrate George's life will be conducted at the Robert Barley Youth Center, (Maple Fork Baptist Church) on January 2, 2024, with Pastor Jim Bowyer delivering the Eulogy at 6:00 p.m.
Friends may visit the family from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the youth center.
