George Robert Ransom

George  Robert Ransom, age 83, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 surrounded by those who loved him after battling a sudden terminal illness. He put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on October 10, 2024.

George was born on April 8, 1941 in Mt. View, West Virginia. He went on to work many jobs but  his favorite job was being the owner and operator of his family business, Ransom's Trucking from  1982-2009.

George enjoyed chewing his tobacco, and camping on the Greenbrier River with his wife, along with spending time with his grandchildren and great  grandchildren.

He was  preceded in death by his parents, George  and Lanzy Jane Ransom;  by siblings Ina Lilly, Betty Ransom, Polly Ransom, Brenda Webber, Loma Gunter, Dallas Ransom, Bobby Ransom, Donald Ransom and Darrell Ransom.

George is survived by his wife, Wanda Ransom; daughter Sandra Lilly, son George Ransom Jr. and wife Annette, and son Wayne Ransom and wife Katherine. George was one of 12 siblings, those surviving include a brother Ronnie Ransom, and a sister Tammy Pack and husband Frank Pack. Grandchildren include Adrienne Ransom, John Ransom, Emilea Farthing, Candace Ransom, Morgan Ransom, Amelia Lilly, and Autumn Ransom. Great grandchildren include Kamryn and Maddison Farthing, and Lainey Meadows.

Funeral services  will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Mike Worley officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Doug Lilly, Richard Lilly, Travis Farthing, Jordan Meadows, Ronnie Dean Ransom, John Ransom and Vence Evans.
