Giles David Keaton

Giles David Keaton, of Clear Creek, West Virginia, passed away Feb. 3, 2026, at the Bowers House in Beckley following a short illness.

He was born on April 1, 1956, at Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Rev. Robert and Shirley Keaton of Dillwyn, Va.

Throughout his life, Giles worked in many trades. He was employed at Itmann Coal Company and Rockingham Poultry Factory before retiring from Cleveland Construction, where he traveled to many places using his carpentry skills.

Giles loved camping and rafting and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and ginseng digger who truly felt at home in the woods. He also enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports over the years. Traveling with his wife was another joy of his life, and together they visited many places across the country, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kara Wallace; sister, Lenora Bell; parents-in-law, James and Shirley Bryant; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Bryant and Alan Bryant.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 50 years, Karen Keaton; daughters Leah Kincaid of Beckley and Janice (Gary) Williams of Glen Daniel; grandchildren Justin Scarbro, Trevor (Samantha) Quarles, Nora Scarbro, Rabekka Quarles, James Wallace, Lauran Wallace, and KaiLyn Williams; and great-grandchildren Landon Scarbro and Hunter Scarbro, Kolson Quarles and Kaden Quarles. Son in law Garrett Wallace.

He is also survived by his brother, Russell (Susan) Keaton; sister, Wanda (Gary) Hoerman; brother-in-law, John (Teresa) Bryant; sisters-in-law, Karla (Butch) Pugh, Kim (Michael) Bacon, and Donna Bryant; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of ARH ICU, Cabell Huntington Hospital, and St. Mary's Hospital, and a special thank you to Bowers Hospice House for the compassionate care he received during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Keaton Family Cemetery, Clear Creek, WV at a later date.
