Gloria J. Knight

Gloria J. Knight, known as Jeannie to some of her family members, passed on May 18, 2026, at the age of 81. We're sure she stopped at the Rainbow Bridge to collect the pets that preceded her from Sweetie Pie to Pogo. She was also preceded by her husband, parents, older sister, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She leaves behind her son, Bill Hess; his wife, Connie; her three grandchildren, Logan (with his wife Jessica), Brittany, and Jayce; and her four great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Alyssa, Hayden, and Hunter. She also leaves behind her younger sister, Sheila; and two Shih Tzus, Luna and Leila.

Gloria was born in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from J. B. Atkinson Elementary School, Western Junior High School, and Shawnee High School. Later she obtained an Associate's Degree from Azusa Community College in Azusa, California. She began her professional career in banking including the Federal Reserve Bank (Kentucky) and Bank of America (California). Other organizations included Pacific Bell and Siemens, both in California.

Her passions included waterskiing and motorcycling in her earlier years, and volunteering at nursing homes and other organizations with the OC Animal Allies when she retired. Throughout her life, she enjoyed photography and her church and neighbor relationships.

She attended Providence Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky (where she married Bill's father in 1963), New Life Fellowship in San Bernardino, California (where she traveled through the Holy Land with the pastor, his wife, and other congregants in 1992), and Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Fountain Valley, California (where she was a regular greeter and assisted in other activities, including a cruise to the Mexican Riviera in 2023).

Gloria moved to Shady Spring in May 2025. In October, she purchased a farm in Jumping Branch and was building a second house there.

Bill thanks everyone for their support, prayers and love toward his mother and his family. He asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria Knight to be sent to Living Waters Christian Fellowship, 9801 Talbert Avenue, Fountain Valley, CA 92708.

No services will be held at this time.
