Gloria Jeanne (Sturgill) Martin, age 89, of Mabscott, WV, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Born September 14, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Emmett Jasper and Mary Alice Kelly Sturgill.

Gloria Jeanne worked in the hardware business for over thirty years, serving at Coal City Lumber Co., Rhodes Supply Co. in two locations, Priddy's Inc., and Beckley Farm and Fleet.

Gloria was of the Pentecostal (Church of God) faith and enjoyed worshipping the Lord and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, picnics and family reunions, but will always be remembered for her giving heart.

Gloria Jeanne loved playing Barbies and having tea parties with her granddaughters; as well as buying and playing harmonicas with her grandsons. Her face lit up just being around them. She will be forever remembered and loved.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Martin, Sr., Her brothers, Billy, Robert, Alvin, Harry and Fred, and her youngest sister, Barbara Harris.

Left to cherish her memory are beloved children; Theresa (Everett) Roark, Earl W. (Debbie) Martin, Jr. , Vickie Stover, Shirley (Zane) Jones, David Martin, Dan Batten; grandchildren, Renae Roark, Danny (Ginny) Roark, Danielle (Nathan) Cook, Joshua Martin, Damian Martin, Timothy (Kristen) Stover, Ashley (Jon) Legursky, Jameson Jones; great grandchildren, Autumn Roark, Daniel Roark, Kaia, Leiklea, Islea Stover, Carter Legursky, and Fallon and Rowan Cook. Also surviving are her siblings, Mary Baugues, and Richard "Buster" Sturgill, and many other family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the Bowers Hospice House and staff for their excellent care given to our mother.

Funeral arrangements will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, 1901 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV, on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Evangelist Jim Farnsworth officiating, and Jim's wife, Tina singing Gloria's favorite songs. Tad Damron of "Restore the Broken Band" will also assist with the singing. Friends may visit with the family from noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Sturgill-Goode Cemetery in Pineville, WV.

Serving as pallbearers is her son, David M. Martin, and grandsons, Danny Roark, Timothy Stover, Daniel E. Roark, Jon Legursky and Nathan Cook.
