Gloria Gale Smithson

In loving memory of Gloria Gale Richmond Smithson, born on January 19, 1946, went home to be with the Lord in the presence of her daughter by marriage, Ashleigh Smithson on Palm Sunday March 24, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House.

She was a beacon of love, strength and kindness, whose impact reached far beyond her immediate family. Gloria was a beloved wife to Randy Smithson for 55 years, a cherished mother to Paul, and a loving mother by marriage to Ashleigh. Her influence will continue to guide them throughout their lives. Her wisdom, patience, and unconditional love have left them an indelible mark on their hearts.

She was also a doting grandmother to Ava, whose life was enriched by Gloria's love and guidance. Ava will carry her grandmother's teachings and memories with her always.

She had a long and fulfilling career of working 23 years at Hill's Department Store, where she was known for her hard work and dedication. In addition to her professional career, Gloria also spent 25 years as a volunteer at Pine Lodge Nursing Home, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to helping others. Her life long friend Betty Toney, caregiver and friend Eva Hatfield-Puckett, and a special cousin Vonnie Coskey will remember her fondly for her kindness and generosity. Gloria's dedication to her work and volunteer service is a testament to her character and the impact she had on those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
