Granvil “Odell” Lilly, age 84, of Coal City, WV passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born on October 4, 1942 in Ellison Ridge, WV, he was the son of the late Granvil Lilly and Irene Farley Lilly.
Mr. Lilly was a US Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a “Jack-Of-All-Trades”, and a master of many, and had worked in construction and welding for many years.
Mr. Lilly enjoyed old cars and tractors, and loved creating things with metal fabricating. He also enjoyed fishing.
Those survivors left to cherish his wonderful memory include his wife of 61 years, Linda Deihl Lilly; a daughter, Denise Underwood of Coal City; three sons, Michael Lilly and wife Annette of Sanford, NC, Otis Lilly and wife Christle of Sanford, NC, and Daniel Lilly and wife Christina of Sanford, NC. A brother Earl Lilly of Sanford, NC; sisters, Juanita Ferguson and husband Donald of Forest Hill, Wavie French of Coal City, Virginia Gruss and husband Bob of Burton, Ohio, and Rose Mary Lilly-Harvey and husband Moody of Coal City. Twelve grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild soon to be born. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring, WV on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2 :00 PM, with Rev. Larry Cox, assisted by Donald Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
