Harold Lee Dobbins Sr.

Harold L. Dobbins Sr, 98, of Ballwin, MO passed away at the de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis on Friday, October 25, 2024.

Born on May 19, 1926, in Hinton, WV he was a resident of Raleigh County for 92 years before moving to St. Louis to be near family. He was the son of the late Webster and Grace Dobbins.

He lived by the belief that God, family and country were most important. He was very proud of his service in the Navy during WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Dobbins spent most of his working life as a Coal Miner. He later was a founding partner of F & M Furniture and Carpet World in Beckley. Before relocating to St. Louis, Harold was a volunteer at Family Worship Center/ Fishes and Loves, Hospice of Southern West Virginia and was a member of the American Legion Post.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Betty Dobbins, daughter Brenda Shrader and sisters Macie Teaster, Janice Sharp and Juanita Hewitt.

Those left to cherish memories include his second wife, Dorothy Dobbins, Son Harold Dobbins (Diana) of St. Louis MO, his sister Norma Elkins (Frank), Chesapeake Va. He was blessed with 6 Grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Ross", 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great, great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Sam Peterson and Pastor J.D. Wall officiating.  Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services.
