Harrison “Ted” R. Stanley

Harrison R. "Ted" Stanley, 94 of Bud Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Beckley VA Medical Center following a short illness.

Born November 14, 1929 at Bud Mountain and is a son to the late Hobert Stanley and Rosa Bishop Stanley.

Ted served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He received certification as an electronic technician and was well known in the Wyoming County area as owning and operating Stanley TV Sales and Services for over 27 years. He was very well respected in the community as an outgoing hardworking man with great pride to help others without hesitation. Often quiet spoken however his presence was always made aware when he entered the room with a warm welcome and contagious laugh. During the spring and summer months Ted would always be found outdoors tending to his large gardens, canning his harvest, and checking up on his family nearby. He was a faithful member of Guyandotte Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years, and mother of his children, Betty Faye Stanley; his second wife, Betty Stowers; sisters, Ramona Cordell and Rosalyn Whitt; special sister-in-law, Debbie Stanley; grandchildren, Laura Rochelle Rine and Jennifer Ann Rine.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dennis Stanley and wife Cindy of Allyn, WA, Shirley Stanley of Beckley, Jane Falk and husband John of Daniels, Barbara McElwain and husband William of Lewisburg; siblings, Johnathan Stanley and wife Mary of Fellows, CA, Amon Stanley of Bud Mt., Leroy Stanley of New Richmond, Lewis Stanley of Beckley, Joyce Hylton of Bud Mt., Martha Rowe of Bud Mt.; grandchildren, David Lynn Burchett, Scott Burchett (April Wright), Jason Stanley (Leslie), Joey Stanley (Michelle), Katie Geissler (Jon), Nick Rine (Kara), Summer McElwain, Emily McElwain; great grandchildren, Rose Stewart, Cameron Brooke Rine, Ava Jo Rine, Boston, Ella, Sawyer, Teige, and Brooklyn Stanley, Sam, Bowdie and  Victor Burchett, and Amethyst Wright; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Ted Stanley will be conducted at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Guyandotte Baptist Church on Bud Mountain with Brother Nathan Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Lusk Cemetery, Bud Mt. with military honors.

Pallbearers will be family.

Friends may gather with the family at the church on Tuesday from 12-2 PM.
