Hartzell Bennett

Hartzell Eugene "Peanut" Bennett , age 77 of Shady Spring, WV, passed away on February 14, 2025 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.

Born on July 26, 1947, at Lanark, he was the son of the late Frank Jackson Bennett and Madeline Huffman Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was a retired road construction foreman.  He was member of Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Carol Bennett; a daughter Cynthia Bennett; by siblings, Tommy Delahoussaye, Jo Ann Quesenberry, and Mary Paugh.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his daughter  Frankie Kerr and husband Dallas of Mooresville, NC, and  David Toney and wife Shanna of Hurricane, WV; step daughter Heather James of Sophia, WV;  two brothers, Bobby  Delahoussaye of Beckley, and David Delahoussaye and wife Tammy of Lusby, MD.

Nine grandchildren, Jacqueline Bolen, Jonathan Bolen, Ryleigh Toney, Aidan Toney, Abigail Toney, Emma Kerr, Ella Kerr, Erin Kerr, and Konner James. He also leaves behind his very best friend, Pastor Junior Moye of Jumping Branch, WV.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ernie Junior Moye officiating.
