Hazel Brewer

Hazel Cadle Brewer, age 90, of Daniels, WV passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

She was born on October 18, 1933, in East Gulf, WV to the late Bill and Nora Smith Cadle. She was the second of 10 children and spent most of her childhood in the Farley Hill/Take-In Hollow areas. She attended school in Whitby, WV.

Hazel was married to her loving husband, Richard L. Brewer Sr. (Dick) on January 26, 1952, until his death on January 19, 2022. Together they raised 3 children, providing them with a warm and loving home. They also provided the same loving home to a special niece, Tammy Coalson, who they raised for several years as their own child. They were both very proud of all of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and until they could no longer travel, attended as many births, birthday celebrations, graduations, marriages, holidays, dance recitals, and sports events as possible in West Virginia and North Carolina.

Hazel retired from Pinecrest Hospital after many years of employment there as a CNA. After both of their retirements, she and Dick traveled throughout the country with their square-dance team and also spent many winters as "snowbirds" in Florida. They truly enjoyed their golden years together and made many dear friends during their travels and in their time spent in Florida. The family are comforted in knowing that she is again reunited with the love of her life. Hazel and Dick were both members of Crow Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Don, Lonnie, Danny, and Charles Cadle, and four sisters, Delores Cadle, Ruby Snow, Betty Gill, and Patricia Pack.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Brewer Jr. (Diana) of Lincolnton, North Carolina; Margaret Brewer Green (Ricky) of Conway, South Carolina; Samuel Brewer (Kimberly) of Daniels, WV; and Tammy Coalson of Crab Orchard, WV. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kristi Seeber (Seth) of Lincolnton, NC; Meredith Gebhart (Dr. Paul Gebhart) of Huntersville, NC; Chad Brewer (Missy), of Beckley; Holli Davis (Joshua) of Shady Spring; Kellyn Meador (Mike) of Beckley; Adam Radford (Casey) of Beckley; Brandi Rollins (Joe) of Beckley; Aaron Radford of Crab Orchard; Patrick Coalson of Lexington, KY; and Kaleb Jordan Coalson (Billie Jo) of Sophia. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, one brother, Gary Cadle, of Farley Hill, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 3: 00 pm with Brother Dennis Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Pallbearers will be Chad Brewer, Adam Radford, Aaron Radford, Joe Rollins, Seth Seeber, and Isaac Davis.
