Hester Louise Mills

Hester Louise Mills, age 97, of Daniels, WV passed away at Raleigh Center in Daniels, WV on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Born on December 12, 1928 at Basin, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Oscar Shrewsberry, and Ollie Blankenship Shrewsberry.

Mrs. Mills was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and loved cooking for her family. Mrs. Mills loved all children, and was also a wonderful mother and protector to her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Oley Mills; by siblings, Bertha, Claude, Clarence, Samuel, James, Charles, and Twila Shrewsbury.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Jospeh H. Mills of Southington, OH, Linda Lilly of Cool Ridge, Cindy Saddler and husband Ralph of Jumping Branch, Oley Mills Jr. of Cool Ridge, and Delori Robinson of Beaver; siblings, Raymond Shrewsberry, LeRoy Shrewsberry and wife Janie, and Rena Kathleen Perkins and husband Bob. Ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive.

She was a resident of Raleigh Center at Daniels, WV for nearly eight years. The family wishes to thank the staff at Raleigh Center who gave her much love and understanding.

She was and is now and forever a shining light of love.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring, WV on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow at Tom Lilly Cemetery at Ghent, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
