Iris Jacqueline Daugherty, 87, of Crab Orchard passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Mrs. Daugherty was born on June 2, 1937 in Amigo, WV to the late Dea and Mary P. Graham.
Aunt Jackie, as we affectionately called her, was known to all that loved her for her love of animals and her sense of humor which, even though her body and mind were failing, she possessed until her passing.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daugherty was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Lee Daugherty, Jr. in 2006 as well as sisters Grethel M. McKinney, Geraldine P. Daniel, and Lena M. Graham. She was also preceded in death by brothers Hanzel Clayton Graham and Harold Freeman Graham.
Mrs. Daugherty is survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Graham of Hampton, VA and Oma Lee Graham of Beaver, WV as well as several nieces and nephews and close friend Susie Reed of Basin, WV.
I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for Mrs. Daugherty's niece, Lela J. Graham, who was always there for Aunt Jackie for her grocery needs, shopping excursions, home maintenance, and doctor visits. When Aunt Jackie was no longer able to reside on her own, niece Lela moved Aunt Jackie into her residence and cared for her aunt with a tenacity and grace precious few people possess. The family would also like to express their thanks to the Bowers Hospice House for ensuring Aunt Jackie was comfortable at the time of her passing.
In accordance with Mrs. Daugherty's wishes, there will be no service. Mrs. Daugherty will be interned at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV beside her late husband Lee.
This remembrance was composed by Bryan, great nephew of Aunt Jackie and proud son of caretaker, Lela.
