Ivan Reuben Smith

Ivan Reuben Smith, age 87, of Sullivan Road, Glen Morgan, WV passed away at his home on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Born on July 11, 1936 in Vicova, he was the son of the late Ruff Smith and Viola Worrell Smith.

Mr. Smith was a retired carpenter, and was a US Air Force Veteran.  He was a member of Living Waters Baptist Church in Beckley. Mr. Smith was a song writer and sang music, and  had recorded a gospel CD. He also loved researching genealogy and family ancestry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ivan Wayne Smith; by four brothers and two sisters.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 60 years, Carolyn Jean Hardin Smith; two daughters, Valerie Ann Sellards of Beckley, and Sarah Beth Smith of Glen Morgan. A daughter-in-law Sallie Bett Smith of Glen Morgan; grandchildren Nathaniel R. Smith  and Caroline Sellards.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Mike Gunnoe officiating.  Burial will follow at the Tilden Cemetery at Glen Morgan, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
